Bold pepperoni, gooey cheese, golden bread, and tangy sauce unite for a crave-worthy hot sandwich.
# What You'll Need:
→ Bread & Spreads
01 - 4 slices sourdough or Italian bread
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
→ Cheese
03 - 4 slices mozzarella cheese or 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
04 - 2 slices provolone cheese (optional)
05 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
→ Pizza Sauce
06 - 4 tablespoons pizza sauce
→ Meats
07 - 12 to 16 slices pepperoni
→ Additional (Optional)
08 - 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
09 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil or oregano
# How To:
01 - Arrange the 4 slices of bread on a work surface. Evenly spread the softened butter on one side of each slice.
02 - Flip the bread so the unbuttered side faces up. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce onto two of the slices.
03 - Place 2 slices mozzarella (or 1/2 cup shredded) on each sauced slice, then add a slice of provolone if using, and sprinkle evenly with grated Parmesan.
04 - Arrange 6 to 8 slices of pepperoni over the cheese. Add black olives and fresh basil or oregano if desired.
05 - Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side out, to form sandwiches.
06 - Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
07 - Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and crisp, and cheese is thoroughly melted.
08 - Remove the sandwiches from the pan. Let cool 1–2 minutes, slice, and serve warm.
